Founded in 1892, Zoo of Barcelona is one of the oldest but at the same time one of the most modern zoos in the world. It is located in a magnificent garden, covering 13 hectares of Ciutadella Park and containing a collection of approximately 7 500 individual animals belonging to more than 400 species from all over the world, including: mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. For many years Zoo of Barcelona was famous for the unique albino gorilla Snowflake (1964-2003). Currently, you can enjoy the unique collection of primates, including tamarins (the smallest monkeys in the world), grey mangabey, white-crowned mangabey, and Bornean orangutans as well as the group of bottlenose dolphins, which together with seals and walruses give spectacular performances daily. Zoo of Barcelona serves not only as a wonderful entertainment for you and your children; it also adheres to the World Zoo Conservation Strategy and hence carries out a series of activities, such as preservation of an endangered species, scientific research and educational programmes. Address: Parc de la Ciutadella,
