The history of the Metro of Barcelona started in 1924 with only one line connecting Lesseps and Plaça Catalunya. Nowadays, Metro of Barcelona consist of 9 lines (163 stations), operated by two different institutions: TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) and FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya)
Taxi
The most common and simple way to catch a taxi on the streets of Barcelona is to either go to one of the taxi stops or to use a hand signal when a taxi with a green light (which means that it is empty) is approaching.
Bus
The bus network of Barcelona is operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). TMB buses serve Barcelona as well as its metropolitan areas. Barcelona´s bus network consists of 109 lines.
Bicycle
Barcelona's Communal Bicycle Program.To use Bicing, you must sign up for a membership online or in the Bicing office. A DNI/NIE number and a valid shipping address in Spain to receive the membership card must be provided, thus discouraging touristic use of the bicycles.

Trains
The FGC is an electric commuter rail system that currently operates three urban lines (L6, L7, L8), seven suburban lines (S1, S2, S33, S4, S5, S55, S8), and two interurban lines (R5, R6) in Barcelona.
Tram
Barcelona’s tram system consists of two lines, Trambaix and Trambesòs. Tickets can be purchased at any tram stop with credit card or cash as individual passes or as part of the pubic transportation integrated ticket system.
